Ho Teh Eng
Chief Operation Officer and Founder of Little Scientists Program
Mdm HO Teh Eng is the founder of ALFA and Friends (which also the Little Scientists founder, program of early childhood education). She holds a Master of Arts (Educational Leadership and Management) from University of Nottingham and Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from University of Malaya. She is Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC) National Representative of Malaysia and a member of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Council Malaysia.
As a mother of two children, she wanted to provide her children with the best education, just like every parent does. In extending her work to inspire all the children to love learning, it has led her to develop the hands-on science programme way back in 2002. Since then, she and her team continuously improve their Mathematics and Science curriculum by referring to research findings and leading practices of effective preschool educators. One of their programmes — the blended e-teaching and learning programme won the Best of e-Learning category in Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Award in 2015.
She has been actively involved in conducting teachers’ professional development courses to the preschool teachers since 2002 – improving the teaching practices of thousands of teachers annually. In recognition of her contribution to the early childhood education sector, she was awarded with the prestigious Women of Excellence Award 2014, on top of other awards she and the company have received. She continues to strive for education excellence through ALFA and Friends™ Programmes locally and internationally – inspiring children to love STEM in more than 750 preschools in multiple countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
