Coding and Robotics for Preschools
Little Bot is an innovative and play-based program designed to spark the curiosity of young learners, igniting their interest in coding and robotics. Named Mica, this programme is designed for children aged 5 to 6, providing a captivating and interactive introduction to the world of technology.
Unplugged coding involves instructing coding concepts without electronic devices. It is a learning process on how to code without physically writing lines of code. During unplugged coding sessions, children apply their knowledge to tackle computational challenges and gaining a deeper understanding of the concepts they will later apply in coding projects.
Little Bot Programme Structure
Little Bot unfolds over a two-year period, offering a total of 60 lessons strategically spread across each year. With 30 lessons annually, organized into 15 lessons per term, the programme’s structure is carefully curated to ensure a balanced and comprehensive STEM learning experience.
Building on the natural curiosity of young learners and their need to make sense of the world the program content focuses on the five elements of computational thinking; decomposition, logic, abstraction, pattern recognition and algorithms. Exploring these elements will give early exposure to children’s ICT literacy, critical thinking skills, creativity, leadership skills and many more skills included in 21st-century thinking skills.
With exposure to all the elements of computational thinking skills and 21st-century thinking skills, children will not only acquire proficiency in modern technology but also will develop a versatile skill set crucial for success in the future.
